Unit1 What’s he like?

A. Let’s try and Let’talk

Teaching aims

a. Students can listen, say, read new sentences---Who is…?He/She is…. What’ he/she like? He/She is….

b.     Students can listen, say and recognize the words: old, young, funny, kind, strict, polite, hard-working, clever.

c.      Students can use the sentences in the real condition.

a. Students can learn the key words and sentences.

b. Students can act the dialog freely.

c. Students can learn how to talk about people’s characteristics.

Teaching procedures

 Step 1  Warm up

 1Enjoy a song: Who’s your teacher?          

 2T Let’s look and say the names. (通过多媒体播放一些卡通图片,分别展示年老,年轻,滑稽,有礼貌,严格等外貌与性格特征,让学生认读,说说这是谁,怎么样.)

 Step 2  Presentation

A.  Learn the main scene

Show the main scene and ask the students to find out: Who are they? What are they talking about?

a.     Students look at the pictures and guess:

Dialog 1: Who: Wu Yifan, Amy, Oliver and a teacher

        What are they talking about?

The teacher introduces classmates to each other.

Dialog 2: Who: A girl, Oliver, Zoom and Zip.

         What are they talking about?

b. Teacher can guide the student to discuss and make a show.

c. Listen and imitate the dialog then try to understand the meaning.

d. Students read the dialog follow the tape and imitate the dialog.

  Read the dialog in pairs and groups.

B. Learn Let’s try and Let’s talk

a. Wu Yifan and Oliver see Mr. Li look at the pictures below. Listen and tick.

b. Today we have a new music teacher. Who is your new music teacher? Let’s know him with Oliver and Wu Yifan, Ok?

      Watch the video and find out:

       Who is your new music teacher?

       Is he young?

c. Listen to the tape again and check the answers.

d. Listen to the dialog and read. Pay attention to the students’ pronunciation and intonation.

 

Step 3 Practice

a.     Work in pairs and act the dialog

b.     Use the sentence patterns:

Who’s your Chinese/maths/English…teacher?

He/She is…

Is he/she tall/short/ kind/old/young…?

Yes, he/she is. No, he/she isn’t.

c.      Play a game(优点大爆炸,发现小组内每个成员的优点)

Find the advantages of your group members.

Who’s that? He/She is…

What’s he/she like? He/She is kind/friendly/nice…

Is he/she…? Yes, he/she is.  No, he/she isn’t.

 

Step 4 Production

 Divide all the students into four groups and make a survey.

Who’s your…?  He/She is…

What’s he/ she like? He/She is funny/kind/quiet/strict/nice/friendly…

Is he/she kind/friendly…?  Yes, he/she is.  No, he/she isn’t.

 

Step 5 Summary

Master the key words and sentences.

 

Homework

a.     Listen and read the dialog

b.     Do the exercises.

c. Make a new dialog and act it out.
